Introduction

The International Biology Bowl draws parricipants from all over the world. By creating thought-provoking, inspiring questions, the IBB aims to foster a deep interest in the biological sciences in students around the globe, enhance their scientiffc literacy and teamwork skills, develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Since its inception in 2009, the IBB has welcomed over 4,000 parricipants from more than 25 countries and regions. The IBB is conducted in teams of up to four parricipants, who must answer a series of challenging biology questions. Difffculty of the questions range from AP Biology to USA Biology Olympiad Open/Semiffnals Round, covering topics such as Cell Biology & Biochemistrr, Ecology, Genetics and Bioinformatics.

The IBB provides a platform for Chinese students to demonstrate their biological knowledge and encouraging global collaboration and communication among young talents in the ffeld. The Top Teams will have the opporrunity to be invited to the International Round. Among them, the top four teams that receive the Winner Award in the IBB China Semiffnal Round (Advanced Division) will directly advance to the global semiffnals, competing for top honors alongside leading teams from the USA Biology Bowl and the Asian Biology Bowl.

Promotion System

Sessions

Open Round

90 questions, 120-minute, collaboration are allowed between team members.Multiple-choice questions, 1-4 points for each question. Selecting parr of the correct options may earn the corresponding points. No penalty for incorrect answers.

Semiffnal Round

Teams will go head-to-head in rounds until a team is victorious. Bonuses questions will be read to the team who answered the associated tossup questions correctly. Interrupt and answer incorrectly will be deducted responding points.

After each tossup question is read, team members will have 8 seconds to buzz in. Once buzzed, the recognized individual will have 2-3 seconds to answer the question. Any answers given after the 2-3 seconds will not be recognized.

International Round

Qualification: The Top Teams in the IBB China Semifinal Round will be invited to the International Open Round. Among them, the top four teams that receive the Winner Award will directly advance to the International Semifinals. Team members cannot be replaced.

Open Round (Novice Division)
● Gold Award: Top 10% Teams
● Silver Award: Top 25% Teams
● Bronze Award: Top 50% Teams
● Qualifier Award: Top 32 Teams
* All participants will receive an electronic
participation certificate. The Top Teams that receive
the Qualifier Award will have the opportunity to be
invited to the Semifinal Round.

Semifnal Round (Advanced Division)
● Winner Award: Top 4 Teams
● Gold Award: Top 10% Teams by score
● Silver Award: Top 25% Teams by score
● Bronze Award: Top 50% Teams by score
* All participants will receive an electronic participation
certificate.

International Round
A cash prize will be issued to the top three placing teams from the International Semifinals Rounds.

Registration Details

Fee

● Include parricipation fee in all rounds
● Exclude logistics costs (accommodation, transporration, meals, etc.)
* The organizing committee will provide logistical serrices for students to choose from. Notiffcations regarding the opening of logistical registration will be sent to students via SMS and email.

FAQ

REFUND POLICY

If, for some reason, the student is unable to attend after paying the fee, please contact us. If you apply before the registration deadline, 25% of the registration fee will be deducted as academic materials and service fees. If you apply after the registration deadline, no refund will be given.
